Surah Al-Anfal ini menjelaskan prinsip-prinsip keimanan dan problematika yang dihadapi Rasul Saw. terkait sahabat; generasi Islam pertama. Tujuh surat sebelumnya, hampir 9 juz, menjelaskan problematika dakwah para rasul sebelum Nabi Muhammad saw., sejak dari Nuh sampai Isa dalam menghadapi kaum mereka yang sulit sekali menerima kebenaran atau keesaan Allah. Di akhir surah Al-A’raf, dari ayat 184 baru Allah menceritakan kondisi dakwah Rasul di tengah kaum musyrikin Mekah. Ternyata, kondisi umat manusia dalam me-nerima dakwah para rasul itu sama saja. Ayat 1-8 menjelaskan beberapa hal Persoalan harta rampasan perang yang menjadi rebutan sebagian sahabat. Sistem pembagiannya murni ketentuan Allah. Menaatinya adalah bukti konkret keimanan. Ciri-ciri mukmin sejati ialah Bila disebut nama Allah bergetar hatinya, bila dibacakan Al-Qur’an, bertambah imannya, bertawakal pada Allah., menegakkan salat dan menginfakkan sebagiaan rezeki yang Allah berikan padanya. Imbalan keimanan yang benar adalah derajatnya terangkat di sisi Allah, mendapatkan ampunan dan surga di akhirat kelak. Sebagian kaum muslimin membenci berperang di jalan Allah waktu perang Badar, seakan digiring kepada kematian, karena rencana awalnya hanya mencegat sekelompok pedagang kafir Quraisy yang melintasi kawasan Badar. Mereka mendebat Rasulullah. Kehendak dan strategi kaum mukmin belum tentu sesuai dengan kehendak dan strategi Allah. Strategi kaum Mukmin seringkali terpengaruh kepentingan duniawi jangka pendek pragmatis. Sedangkan strategi Allah adalah fundamental dan jangka panjang. Standar nilai yang dipakai Allah adalah memenangkan yang hak dan melumpuhkan yang batil. Inilah jalan yang benar. Ayat 9-16 menjelaskan tiga perkara pokok dalam Islam yakni, peran doa dalam hidup, khususnya saat berjuang dan berperang, Allah memiliki cara sendiri memenangkan dakwah Islam dan etika berdakwah dan berperang di jalan Allah. Doa memiliki perang yang sangat besar dalam menghadapi berbagai cobaan dan ancaman dalam berjuang dan berperang di jalan Allah. Doa juga senjata kaum mukmin. Hal tersebut membuktikan bahwa kemenangan itu hanya dari Allah, bukan karena kehebatan kaum mukmin. Buktinya adalah perang Badar yang jumlah mereka saat itu hanya sekitar 300 lebih sedikit sedangkan kaum musyrikin 1000 orang lebih. Berkat doa Rasulullah, Perang Badar dimenangkan kaum muslimin. Maka, doa dan amal dua kewajiban yang harus dilakukan. Banyak cara Allah dalam memenangkan dakwah Islam kaum mukmin. Di antaranya dengan menurunkan bantuan melalui para malaikat-Nya, menidurkan mereka sehingga hati mereka tenang, menurunkan hujan, meneguhkan hati mereka dan menipukan rasa takut ke dalam hati orang-orang kafir sehingga orang-orang kafir itu mudah dikalahkan dan dibunuh. Demikian cara Allah untuk memberikan siksaan dan azab di dunia kepada kaum kafir. Salah satu etika berjuang dan berperang di jalan Allah adalah tidak boleh mundur atau lari saat berhadap–hadapan dengan musuh, kecuali berbelok untuk berperang dari arah lain, atau bergabung dengan kelompok mukmin yang lain. Lari atau mundur dari medan juang dan perang itu adalah dosa besar. For example, the word Rahmah Mercy indicates many things such as abundant knowledge, abundant provision if Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala bestowed upon you abundant provision this indicates a mercy from Him, if your manners have been refined and perfected by the Qur’an, then this is a mercy from Allah, you heard a story and took the admonition then this is a mercy, and so on… This is when you just think considerably in the word Rahmah Mercy. Accordingly, we say Tadabbur means the utmost understanding of the meaning of the words of Allah by reading the Tafseer, deep thinking and consideration over the meanings of the verse, accept its guidance fully and completely. Mould yourself according to its guidance. Take each passage of the revelation as addressed to you. Put yourself in the same state similar situation [ ask yourself whether you have gone through a similar situation or not]. After that comes acting upon it, putting it into practice and that would be by developing an inner response to the Ayah, and express it by praising Allah, seeking His forgiveness, etc. Kitab Al Fawa’id by Imam Ibn Al Qayyim Conditions for a person who wants to do Tadabbur of the Quran Knowledge of the language of Quran Arabic Tadabbur should follow the understanding/interpretation of the Pious Predecessors of the Ummah from the first three generations of Islam Duaa Supplication to Allah seeking Knowledge and Understanding of the Quran Qur’an Bear in mind that Tadabbur, pondering over the meanings of the aayaath of the Qur’an, is obligatory upon every Muslim reciting the Qur’an. The Qur’an itself emphasizes that mere reading or reciting of it is insufficient. One needs to reflect upon what one reads, and then act upon it. Allah said This is a Book the Quran which We have sent down to you, full of blessings that they may ponder over its aayaath, and that men of understanding may remember. Qur’an Surah Saad 3829 The Word used in the ayath is YADDABBARU. كِتَابٌ أَنزَلْنَاهُ إِلَيْكَ مُبَارَكٌ لِّيَدَّبَّرُوا آيَاتِهِ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ أُوْلُوا الْأَلْبَابِ Allah also said Then do they not reflect upon the Qur'an, or are there locks upon [their] hearts? Qur’an Surah Muhammad 4724 Allah said in Qur’an “Do they not then consider the Qur’an carefully? Had it been from other than Allah, they would surely have found therein much contradictions.” Qur’an Surah an-Nisa’ 482 أَفَلاَ يَتَدَبَّرُونَ الْقُرْآنَ وَلَوْ كَانَ مِنْ عِندِ غَيْرِ اللّهِ لَوَجَدُواْ فِيهِ اخْتِلاَفاً كَثِيراً The Fruits that one will gain from the Tadabbur Guidance Through Tadabbur one can get the light with which he can distinguish between the right from wrong, the truth from falsehood, the guidance from astray, the lawful from the unlawful, etc.. Tadabbur will give the person a strength in his heart, happiness and joy. Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala attributed the Qur’an with Barakah, a Blessed Book. Only the person who ponders over the meanings of the aayaath will get this Barakah, and also the one who learned the Qur’an and acted upon it will get this Barakah. If one reads the Qur’an with understanding the meaning of the aayaath and with heedful heart, this will clear all the doubts, whispers and the diseases of the heart and peace and rest will be put instead into one’s heart. Also one’s faith will increase, because Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala said إِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ الَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِرَ اللّهُ وَجِلَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَإِذَا تُلِيَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتُهُ زَادَتْهُمْ إِيمَاناً وَعَلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ “The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, feel a fear in their hearts and when His Verses this Qur’an are recited unto them, they the Verses increase their Faith; and they put their trust in their Lord Alone.” Qur’an Surah al-Anfal 82 Another benefit that one can get from the Tadabbur is that the person will reach to the rank of certitude and knowledge that the Qur’an is the Word of Allah, because he will see that all the parts of the Qur’an affirm each other and agrees with each other. All the stories and news that are mentioned are repeated in many parts of the Qur’an, and all of them are confirming and agreeing with each other, there is no contradiction between them. Therefore, Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala said “Had it been from other than Allah, they would surely have found therein much contradictions.” Qur’an Surah Muminoon 2368 Scholars view Shaykhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyahstates that he used to refer 100 interpretations of certain aayaath to reach a conclusion. Thereafter he used to make dua to Allah in his Sajdah “O Teacher of Ibraaheem! Teach me… And O Granter of Understanding to Sulaiman! Grant me understanding” Shaikh as-Sa’di Rahimahullaahsaid interpreting verse 82 of Surat an-Nisa’ as regard the statement of Allah Do they not think deeply in the Qur’an’ “Allah orders us to ponder over the verses of His Book which means detitation over its meaning and thinking deeply in its meaning. Tadabbur of the Book of Allah is the key with which opens for the person all the knowledge that he is seeking. Tadabbur guides one to all the good and with which the faith will increase. Through Tadabbur one knows His Lord, His perfect Attributes what He loves and what He hates. By Tadabbur one knows the way to Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala and the way to Paradise. He knows the qualities of the people of Paradise. Through Tadabbur one knows the way to Hell and the qualities of its people. Also one knows his own self and its characteristics. One knows the Halal and the Haram. As the person increases in Meditation over the verses of the Qur’an, as his knowledge will increase and acting upon this knowledge. Therefore, Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala commanded and encouraged us to make the Tadabbur. He Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala informed us that the Tadabbur is the purpose behind revealing the Qur’an, and it is one of the conditions required for the recitation of the Qur’an. Accordingly the breasts will be opened and the hearts will be enlightened and it reaches with the slave to the degree of certainty.” [Tayseer al-Kareem] Ibn al-Qayyim Rahimahullaah pondered over the following ayath Quran Suarh Al-Baqarah 2216, he came up with seven benefits and wisdoms out of it وَعَسَى أَن تَكْرَهُواْ شَيْئاً وَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ وَعَسَى أَن تُحِبُّواْ شَيْئاً وَهُوَ شَرٌّ لَّكُمْ وَاللّهُ يَعْلَمُ وَأَنتُمْ لاَ تَعْلَمُونَ “And it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows but you do not know.” He concluded all these actions of the heart a. إيمان وتصديق, belief in Allah’s Word, to believe that Allah knows and I don’t know. b. Complete Tawheed , full authorization to Allah in all one’s affairs. c. Submission to Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala. d. Tawakkul, Complete reliance and putting trust in Allah. Whatever Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala has decreed for you is the best. e. Inaabah, to turn unto Allah in all our affairs and seek His Guidance for every matter. f. Rida, to be pleased and satisfied with what Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala has chosen for you [of husband, children, job, nationality, country, place, house, etc.] g. Hamd and Shukr, thanking Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala for the blessing that He has bestowed upon you. h. invoke Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala to keep you firm when you face any misfortune or calamity, and to grant you also patience. Eight acts of the heart, one can perform while sitting and pondering over this ayath. In this way, you have acted upon this verse. If you recited the Qur’an without Tadabbur, then you will be deprived from getting the fruit. The Qur’an should change our behavior and characters. [1] What is the ruling on deriving scientific proofs from the Quran? Indeed, there are many scientific facts mentioned in the Quran which was unknown to the world until very recently. So it is beyond doubt one of the miracles of the Quran. As Allah says in Surah Fussilat 4153the meaning of which can be translated as “We will show them Our signs In the universe, and In their ownselves, until it becomes manifest to them that This the Quran is the truth. is it not Sufficient In regard to Your Lord that He is a witness over All things?” But while trying to prove the scientific facts from the Quran the following things are to be kept in mind The Quran is not a science text Book. It was revealed to teach human being the correct Deen, concept of Tawheed Unique Oneness of Allah and the correct way of worshiping Allah. So this should be our main purpose of reading the Quran. Nowadays, we see many among the youth who read the Quran only to extract such scientific facts. This is a big mistake, since it goes against the primary purpose for which the Quran was revealed. This is a clear violation of the sanctity of the Quran. Proving scientific facts from the Quran is not a duty that Allah has imposed on us. However, ayath that clearly speak about the creation of human being and the embryonic development, the barrier between the seas and aayaath like these may be used for the purpose of doing Dawah. But what should be avoided is trying to challenge and claim that Quran has all the scientific facts and anything can be proved from the Quran, as some of the youth do today. They end up trying to give their own meanings and interpretations to the verses to keep their challenge. Science is not a stable/steady field. Scientists have differed over and over on the same issue through the decades and centuries. So what Science states today may be possibly disproved tomorrow by the same science through new scientists and experiments. So it is not for us to exert ourselves too much into this to the level that we try to prove that something is matching with scientific facts today whereas, scientists go on and change their opinion in the near future. This might turn out to be a wasted effort and unnecessary claim, which Allah has not made us answerable for. بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِDengan nama Allah Yang Maha Pengasih, Maha Penyayangيَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الْأَنْفَالِ قُلِ الْأَنْفَالُ لِلَّهِ وَالرَّسُولِ فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَصْلِحُوا ذَاتَ بَيْنِكُمْ وَأَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ 1. Mereka menanyakan kepadamu Muhammad tentang pembagian harta rampasan perang. Katakanlah, “Harta rampasan perang itu milik Allah dan Rasul menurut ketentuan Allah dan rasul-Nya, maka bertakwalah kepada Allah dan perbaikilah hubungan di antara sesamamu, dan taatlah kepada Allah dan rasul-Nya jika kamu orang-orang yang beriman.” إِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ الَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِرَ اللَّهُ وَجِلَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَإِذَا تُلِيَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ آَيَاتُهُ زَادَتْهُمْ إِيمَانًا وَعَلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ 2. Sesungguhnya orang-orang yang beriman adalah mereka yang apabila disebut nama Allah357 gemetar hatinya, dan apabila dibacakan ayat-ayat-Nya kepada mereka, bertambah kuat imannya dan hanya kepada Tuhan mereka يُقِيمُونَ الصَّلَاةَ وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَاهُمْ يُنْفِقُونَ 3. yaitu orang-orang yang melaksanakan shalat dan yang menginfakkan sebagian dari rezeki yang Kami berikan kepada mereka. أُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ حَقًّا لَهُمْ دَرَجَاتٌ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ وَمَغْفِرَةٌ وَرِزْقٌ كَرِيمٌ 4. Mereka itulah orang-orang yang benar-benar beriman. Mereka akan memperoleh derajat tinggi di sisi Tuhannya dan ampunan serta rezeki nikmat yang mulia. كَمَا أَخْرَجَكَ رَبُّكَ مِنْ بَيْتِكَ بِالْحَقِّ وَإِنَّ فَرِيقًا مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لَكَارِهُونَ 5. Sebagaimana Tuhanmu menyuruhmu pergi dari rumahmu dengan kebenaran, 358 meskipun sesungguhnya sebagian dari orang-orang yang beriman itu tidak menyukainya, يُجَادِلُونَكَ فِي الْحَقِّ بَعْدَمَا تَبَيَّنَ كَأَنَّمَا يُسَاقُونَ إِلَى الْمَوْتِ وَهُمْ يَنْظُرُونَ 6. Mereka membantahmu Muhammad tentang kebenaran setelah nyata bahwa mereka pasti menang, seakan-akan mereka dihalau kepada kematian, sedang mereka melihat sebab kematian itu.وَإِذْ يَعِدُكُمُ اللَّهُ إِحْدَى الطَّائِفَتَيْنِ أَنَّهَا لَكُمْ وَتَوَدُّونَ أَنَّ غَيْرَ ذَاتِ الشَّوْكَةِ تَكُونُ لَكُمْ يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ أَنْ يُحِقَّ الْحَقَّ بِكَلِمَاتِهِ وَيَقْطَعَ دَابِرَ الْكَافِرِينَ7. Dan ingatlah ketika Allah menjanjikan kepadamu bahwa salah satu dari dua golongan yang kamu hadapi adalah untukmu, sedang kamu menginginkan bahwa yang tidak mempunyai kekuatan senjatalah359 untukmu. Tetapi Allah tidak membenarkan yang benar dengan ayat-ayat-Nya dan memusnahkan orang-orang kafir sampai ke akar-akarnya. لِيُحِقَّ الْحَقَّ وَيُبْطِلَ الْبَاطِلَ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُجْرِمُونَ 8. Agar Allah memperkuat yang hak Islam dan menghilangkan yang batil syirik walaupun orang-orang yang berdosa musyrik itu tidak menyukainya.———————-Catatan Kaki357. Menyebut sifat-sifat yang mengagungkan dan Menurut Al-Maragi, Allah mengatur pembagian harta rampasan perang dengan benar, sebagaimana Allah menyuruhnya pergi dari rumah di Madinah untuk berperang ke Badar dengan benar pula. Menurut Aṭ–Ṭabari, keluar dari rumah dengan maksud Kafilah Abu Sufyan yang membawa dagangan dari Suriah. Sedangkan kelompok yang berkekuatan senjata adalah kelompok yang datang dari Mekah dibawah pimpinan Utbah bin Rabi’ah bersama Abu Jahal. Ini terjadi dalam peperangan, sasaran yang mematikan adalah leher. 3 Allah memberi peringatan kepada orang kafir, mereka tidak dapat melarikan diri dan menyelamatkan diri mereka, sesungguhnya mereka tidak dapat melemahkan Allah SWT. ? Pengajaran. 1. Kita hendaklah bertegas dengan orang kafir supaya mereka tidak dapat mengambil kesempatan melawan Islam. 2.
فَلَمْ تَقْتُلُوهُمْ وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ قَتَلَهُمْ وَمَا رَمَيْتَ إِذْ رَمَيْتَ وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ رَمَى وَلِيُبْلِيَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مِنْهُ بَلَاءً حَسَنًا إِنَّ اللَّهَ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ 17. Maka sebenarnya bukan kamu yang membunuh mereka, melainkan Allah yang membunuh mereka, dan bukan engkau yang melempar ketika engkau melempar, tetapi Allah yang melempar. Allah berbuat demikian untuk membinasakan mereka dan untuk memberi kemenangan kepada orang-orang mukmin, dengan kemenangan yang baik. Sungguh, Allah Maha mendengar, Maha Mengetahui. ذَلِكُمْ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ مُوهِنُ كَيْدِ الْكَافِرِينَ18. Demikianlah karunia Allah yang dilimpahkan kepadamu, dan sungguh, Allah melemahkan tipu daya orang-orang kafir. إِنْ تَسْتَفْتِحُوا فَقَدْ جَاءَكُمُ الْفَتْحُ وَإِنْ تَنْتَهُوا فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ وَإِنْ تَعُودُوا نَعُدْ وَلَنْ تُغْنِيَ عَنْكُمْ فِئَتُكُمْ شَيْئًا وَلَوْ كَثُرَتْ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ 19. Jika kamu meminta keputusan, maka sesungguhnya keputusan telah datang kepadamu; dan jika kamu berhenti memusuhi Rasul, maka itulah lebih baik bagimu; dan jika kamu kembali, niscaya Kami kembali memberi pertolongan; dan pasukanmu tidak akan dapat menolak sesuatu bahaya sedikit pun darimu, biarpun jumlahnya pasukan banyak. Sungguh, Allah beserta orang-orang yang beriman. يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آَمَنُوا أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَلَا تَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ وَأَنْتُمْ تَسْمَعُونَ 20. Wahai orang-orang yang beriman! Taatlah kepada Allah dan rasul-Nya, dan janganlah kamu berpaling dari-Nya, padahal kamu mendengar perintah-perintah-Nya. وَلَا تَكُونُوا كَالَّذِينَ قَالُوا سَمِعْنَا وَهُمْ لَا يَسْمَعُونَ 21. Dan janganlah kamu menjadi seperti orang-orang munafik yang berkata, “Kami mendengarkan,” padahal mereka tidak mendengarkan karena hati mereka mengingkarinya. إِنَّ شَرَّ الدَّوَابِّ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ الصُّمُّ الْبُكْمُ الَّذِينَ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ 22. Sesungguhnya makhluk bergerak yang bernyawa yang paling buruk dalam pandangan Allah ialah mereka yang tuli dan bisu tidak mendengar dan memahami kebenaran yaitu orang-orang yang tidak mengerti. وَلَوْ عَلِمَ اللَّهُ فِيهِمْ خَيْرًا لَأَسْمَعَهُمْ وَلَوْ أَسْمَعَهُمْ لَتَوَلَّوْا وَهُمْ مُعْرِضُونَ23. Dan sekiranya Allah mengetahui ada kebaikan pada mereka, tentu Dia jadikan mereka dapat mendengar. 361 Dan jika Allah menjadikan mereka dapat mendengar, niscaya mereka berpaling, sedang mereka memalingkan diri. يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آَمَنُوا اسْتَجِيبُوا لِلَّهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ إِذَا دَعَاكُمْ لِمَا يُحْيِيكُمْ وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَحُولُ بَيْنَ الْمَرْءِ وَقَلْبِهِ وَأَنَّهُ إِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ 24. Wahai orang-orang yang beriman! Penuhilah seruan Allah dan Rasul, apabila dia menyerumu kepada sesuatu yang memberi kehidupan kepadamu,362 dan ketahuilah bahwa sesungguhnya Allah membatasi antara manusia dengan hatinya dan sesungguhnya kepada-Nyalah kamu akan dikumpulkan. وَاتَّقُوا فِتْنَةً لَا تُصِيبَنَّ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا مِنْكُمْ خَاصَّةً وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ 2525. Dan peliharalah dirimu dari siksaan yang tidak hanya menimpa orang-orang yang zalim di antara kamu. Ketahuilah bahwa Allah sangat keras siksa-Nya.———————-Catatan Kaki361. Pengandaian dalam ayat ini bukan berarti Allah tidak tahu, tetapi Allah Mahatahu bahwa pada mereka tidak ada Menyerumu berperang untuk meninggikan kalimat Allah dan menghidupkan Islam dan muslimin. Juga berarti menyerumu kepada iman, petunjuk, jihad, dan segala yang ada hubungannya dengan kebahagiaan hidup di dunia dan akhirat.———————-TadabburAyat 17-19 menjelaskan bahwa hakikat yang membunuh dan memanah orang-orang kafir dalam perang adalah Allah. Tanpa Kehendak Allah, kaum mukmin tidak akan mampu berbuat apa-apa. Sedangkan pertempuran dengan musuh itu adalah cara Allah untuk menguji kaum mukmin dengan ujian yang baik. Pada waktu yang sama, pertempuran itu salah satu cara Allah melemahkan tipu daya orang-orang kafir. Saat memasuki Perang Badar, Abu Jahal dan pasukannya meminta kepada Allah untuk memutuskan perkara di antara mereka dan kaum Mukmin. Allah menjawabnya dengan membenturkan mereka dengan kaum mukmin sehingga keputusan Allah itu terjadi, yakni dengan memenangkan kaum mukmin. Pasukan yang banyak dan perlengkapan lengkap yang dimiliki kaum kafir tidak berguna di hadapan kaum mukmin yang dicintai 20-25 mengimbau kaum mukmin agar a Taat mutlak pada Allah dan Muhammad Jangan sekali-kali meninggalkan Al-Qur’an seperti yang dilakukan Bani Israil; mereka mendengar Taurat dibaca tapi tidak menaatinya. Orang yang tidak mau menjadikan Al-Qur’an sebagai sumber sistem hidupnya adalah makhluk Allah yang paling buruk. Mereka sama dengan binatang; tidak bisa mendengar Al-Qur’an dan tidak bisa pula membacanya. c Memenuhi seruan Allah dan Rasul-Nya kepada kehidupan yang lebih baik dengan Al-Qur’an dan Islam dengan segala sistemnya, termasuk berperang di jalan Allah. Allah membatasi seseorang dengan hatinya. Jika mengambil Al-Qur’an, maka hatinya akan hidup dan jika meninggalkan Al-Qur’an, maka hatinya akan mati. Sebab itu, kaum mukmin harus mampu menjaga diri mereka dari azab dunia yang bukan menimpa orang-orang yang zalim saja. Ingatlah, Allah itu memilik siksaan yang amat pedih. Linguistic meaning Literally Tadabbur, it means to look into the consequence or the end result of the matters, e. g. if we did that what would happen to contemplationIslamic meaning Tadabbur, means pondering over the meaning of the verses of the Qur’an and contemplating them. It is not enough to learn the Qur’an and recite it profusely. But what is required from us is to understand the words and the meaning of the ayah. To know the matter or the case or what the ayah says and this cannot be attained except by reading the Tafseer the interpretation, by heart or heedful mind and not by ears and eyes. Examples of Tadabbur Tadabbur is comprehensive and deep thinking and consideration in order to reach to a guidance or indications. For example, the word Rahmah Mercy indicates many things such as abundant knowledge, abundant provision if Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala bestowed upon you abundant provision this indicates a mercy from Him, if your manners have been refined and perfected by the Qur’an, then this is a mercy from Allah, you heard a story and took the admonition then this is a mercy, and so on… This is when you just think considerably in the word Rahmah Mercy. Accordingly, we say Tadabbur means the utmost understanding of the meaning of the words of Allah by reading the Tafseer, deep thinking and consideration over the meanings of the verse, accept its guidance fully and completely. Mould yourself according to its guidance. Take each passage of the revelation as addressed to you. Put yourself in the same state similar situation [ ask yourself whether you have gone through a similar situation or not]. After that comes acting upon it, putting it into practice and that would be by developing an inner response to the Ayah, and express it by praising Allah, seeking His forgiveness, etc. Kitab Al Fawa’id by Imam Ibn Al Qayyim Conditions for a person who wants to do Tadabbur of the Quran Knowledge of the language of Quran Arabic Tadabbur should follow the understanding/interpretation of the Pious Predecessors of the Ummah from the first three generations of Islam Dua Supplication to Allah seeking Knowledge and Understanding of the Quran The Qur’anTadabbur-i-QuranBear in mind that Tadabbur, pondering over the meanings of the ayah of the Qur’an, is obligatory upon every Muslim reciting the Qur’an. The Qur’an itself emphasizes that mere reading or reciting of it is insufficient. One needs to reflect upon what one reads, and then act upon it. Allah said This is a Book the Quran which We have sent down to you, full of blessings that they may ponder over its ayah, and that men of understanding may remember. The Qur’an Surah Saad 3829 The Word used in the ayah is YADDABBARU. كِتَابٌ أَنزَلْنَاهُ إِلَيْكَ مُبَارَكٌ لِّيَدَّبَّرُوا آيَاتِهِ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ أُوْلُوا الْأَلْبَابِ Allah also said Then do they not reflect upon the Qur’an, or are there locks upon [their] hearts? – Surah Muhammad 4724 Allah said in the Qur’an “Do they not then consider the Qur’an carefully? Had it been from other than Allah, they would surely have found therein much contradictions.” – Surah an-Nisa’ 482 أَفَلاَ يَتَدَبَّرُونَ الْقُرْآنَ وَلَوْ كَانَ مِنْ عِندِ غَيْرِ اللّهِ لَوَجَدُواْ فِيهِ اخْتِلاَفاً كَثِيراً The Fruits that one will gain from the Tadabbur Guidance Through Tadabbur one can get the light with which he can distinguish between the right from wrong, the truth from falsehood, the guidance from astray, the lawful from the unlawful, etc.. Tadabbur will give the person a strength in his heart, happiness and joy. Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala attributed the Qur’an with Barakah, a Blessed Book. Only the person who ponders over the meanings of the ayah will get this Barakah, and also the one who learned the Qur’an and acted upon it will get this Barakah. If one reads the Qur’an with understanding the meaning of the ayah and with heedful heart, this will clear all the doubts, whispers and the diseases of the heart and peace and rest will be put instead into one’s heart. Also one’s faith will increase, because Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala said إِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ الَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِرَ اللّهُ وَجِلَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَإِذَا تُلِيَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتُهُ زَادَتْهُمْ إِيمَاناً وَعَلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ “The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, feel a fear in their hearts and when His Verses this Qur’an are recited unto them, they the Verses increase their Faith; and they put their trust in their Lord Alone.” – Surah al-Anfal 82 Another benefit that one can get from the Tadabbur is that the person will reach to the rank of certitude and knowledge that the Qur’an is the Word of Allah, because he will see that all the parts of the Qur’an affirm each other and agrees with each other. All the stories and news that are mentioned are repeated in many parts of the Qur’an, and all of them are confirming and agreeing with each other, there is no contradiction between them. Therefore, Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala said “Had it been from other than Allah, they would surely have found therein much contradictions.” Qur’an Surah Muminoon 2368 Scholars view Shaykhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah states that he used to refer 100 interpretations of certain ayah to reach a conclusion. Thereafter he used to make dua to Allah in his Sajdah “O Teacher of Ibraaheem! Teach me… And O Granter of Understanding to Sulaiman! Grant me understanding” Shaikh as-Sa’di Rahimahullaah said interpreting verse 82 of Surat an-Nisa’ as regard the statement of Allah Do they not think deeply in the Qur’an’ “Allah orders us to ponder over the verses of His Book which means detitation over its meaning and thinking deeply in its meaning. Tadabbur of the Book of Allah is the key with which opens for the person all the knowledge that he is seeking. Tadabbur guides one to all the good and with which the faith will increase. Through Tadabbur one knows His Lord, His perfect Attributes what He loves and what He hates. By Tadabbur one knows the way to Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala and the way to Paradise. He knows the qualities of the people of Paradise. Through Tadabbur one knows the way to Hell and the qualities of its people. Also one knows his own self and its characteristics. One knows the Halal and the Haram. As the person increases in Meditation over the verses of the Qur’an, as his knowledge will increase and acting upon this knowledge. Therefore, Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala commanded and encouraged us to make the Tadabbur. He Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala informed us that the Tadabbur is the purpose behind revealing the Qur’an, and it is one of the conditions required for the recitation of the Qur’an. Accordingly the breasts will be opened and the hearts will be enlightened and it reaches with the slave to the degree of certainty.” [Tayseer al-Kareem] Ibn al-Qayyim Rahimahullaah pondered over the following ayah The Quran Suarh Al-Baqarah 2216, he came up with seven benefits and wisdoms out of it وَعَسَى أَن تَكْرَهُواْ شَيْئاً وَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ وَعَسَى أَن تُحِبُّواْ شَيْئاً وَهُوَ شَرٌّ لَّكُمْ وَاللّهُ يَعْلَمُ وَأَنتُمْ لاَ تَعْلَمُونَ “And it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows but you do not know.” He concluded all these actions of the heart إيمان وتصديق, belief in Allah’s Word, to believe that Allah knows and I don’t know. Complete Tawheed , full authorization to Allah in all one’s affairs. Submission to Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala. Tawakkul, Complete reliance and putting trust in Allah. Whatever Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala has decreed for you is the best. Inaabah, to turn unto Allah in all our affairs and seek His Guidance for every matter. Rida, to be pleased and satisfied with what Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala has chosen for you [of husband, children, job, nationality, country, place, house, etc.] Hamd and Shukr, thanking Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala for the blessing that He has bestowed upon you. invoke Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala to keep you firm when you face any misfortune or calamity, and to grant you also patience. Eight acts of the heart, one can perform while sitting and pondering over this ayath. In this way, you have acted upon this verse. If you recited the Qur’an without Tadabbur, then you will be deprived from getting the fruit. The Qur’an should change our behavior and characters.[1] What is the ruling on deriving scientific proofs from the Quran? Indeed, there are many scientific facts mentioned in the Quran which was unknown to the world until very recently. So it is beyond doubt one of the miracles of the Quran. As Allah says in Surah Fussilat 4153the meaning of which can be translated as “We will show them Our signs In the universe, and In their ownselves, until it becomes manifest to them that This the Quran is the truth. is it not Sufficient In regard to Your Lord that He is a witness over All things?” But while trying to prove the scientific facts from the Quran the following things are to be kept in mind The Quran is not a science text Book. It was revealed to teach human being the correct Deen, concept of Tawheed Unique Oneness of Allah and the correct way of worshiping Allah. So this should be our main purpose of reading the Quran. Nowadays, we see many among the youth who read the Quran only to extract such scientific facts. This is a big mistake, since it goes against the primary purpose for which the Quran was revealed. This is a clear violation of the sanctity of the Quran. Proving scientific facts from the Quran is not a duty that Allah has imposed on us. However, ayath that clearly speak about the creation of human being and the embryonic development, the barrier between the seas and ayah like these may be used for the purpose of doing Dawah. But what should be avoided is trying to challenge and claim that Quran has all the scientific facts and anything can be proved from the Quran, as some of the youth do today. They end up trying to give their own meanings and interpretations to the verses to keep their challenge. Science is not a stable/steady field. Scientists have differed over and over on the same issue through the decades and centuries. So what Science states today may be possibly disproved tomorrow by the same science through new scientists and experiments. So it is not for us to exert ourselves too much into this to the level that we try to prove that something is matching with scientific facts today whereas, scientists go on and change their opinion in the near future. This might turn out to be a wasted effort and unnecessary claim, which Allah has not made us answerable for.
